{Correctional Enpterpirses of Connecticut Logo} Correctional Enterprises of Connecticut (CEC) operates a number of inmate work programs within the walls of our correctional facilities. A major goal is to train inmates with a marketable skill and  return to society as tax paying citizens.

Product sales and services from the CEC are limited by state statute to state agencies, towns, municipalities, nonprofit groups, schools, and religious organizations.

Under Connecticut General Statute 18-88(g), "Each state department, agency, commission or board shall purchase its necessary products and services from the institution industries if such products and services are produced or manufactured and made available by such industries, provided such products and services are of comparable price and quality and in sufficient quantity as may be available for sale or offered for sale outside the institutions. Except for emergency purchases made under section 4-98, the Comptroller shall not approve any purchase order or commitment for the purchase, other than from such industries, of any such supplies, materials or products as are listed in said catalog and available in sufficient quantity from such industries."

CEC offers a multitude of products and various services.

Volume 6, Section 18 of the Connecticut General Statutes permits state agencies to purchase from CEC without a bid process, regardless of the amount.
